Basic search

Simple or basic search

Enter the position (job, employment) title or keywords and click on the “Search” button in order to obtain a list of relevant results, classified by freshness order. It’s that easy!

nicejob.ca searches for employment offers which correspond exactly to the keywords specified in your request. You can alternate with different versions of the terms used, such as “accounting clerk” and “accountant clerk”. nicejob.ca does not distinguish the feminine (and, from, of the) masculine and the plural … singular. For example, by typing “sales director”, your search results will include “sales directors”, “sale directors”.

You can test different expressions, such as “Sales director” and “business development director”, which will not bring up the same results.

Automatic “AND” operator

Keywords are linked by “AND” default operators and the results that will come up will only be those including all the keywords. Therefore, to limit the results of a search, simply enter more keywords. For example, to find a position in customer service, simply enter customer service

in the search zone and click on the “search” button.

OR operator (logical OR)

In some instance, the use of the operator “OR” is more useful to formulate your request. (it might be more useful to use the…) You can separate two keywords by the “OR” operator. The operator must be in capital letters. For instance, to find positions in customer service or customer support, simply enter “customer service or support”

in the search zone and click on the “search” button.

Please note that the “AND” default operator remains between the word “customer” and the expression “service or support”, which is correspond to the specifications of the request, that is a position either in customer service or support.

Search: Frequently Asked Questions

How to reduce the search results?

Although your keywords might be very appropriate, sometimes a search may bring up too many results.

To that effect, you may want to exclude a term by placing the “-“ (minus sign) right before the word you wish to avoid and preceded by a space. (ex. Analyst –financial)

Can we use the operators “AND” and “OR”?

It is possible to use both operators in the requests submitted to nicejob.ca (see above paragraph). Please note that the “AND” operator remains by default whereas the “OR” operator must be expressed (by OR).

Here are some research examples:

Searches for titles of assistant secretary or executive secretary positions (please note that the search will also include positions containing both secretary assistant and executive, such as “executive secretary assistant”.

Searches job position titles of secretary or assistant or executive.

Should we enter the full word?

nicejob.ca does not utilize the truncation or jokers characters (such as * or?) That is, nicejob.ca searches for exactly the words specified in the request. Hence, “com” should not be written to look for job positions in communication or commerce. Therefore, word spelling is very important.

Should we take into conObjInit.Sideration capital letters?

nicejob.ca does not distinguish capital letters from small letters and ignores characters such as “-“ or “/” put between two words. You may enter “sale”, “Sale” or “SALE”.

Advanced search

Search from expressions

nicejob.ca also allows searching with expressions in quotation marks. The returned pages will necessarily include the said expression such as (for example, “electrical engineer”, where these two words must appear consecutively in that order).

The search from expressions in quotation marks allows to search exactly what is in quotation marks.
For example:

will not include results such as "engineer of electrical systems"

Some characters are not taken into conObjInit.Sideration by nicejob.ca: hyphen (or dash or minus sign), slash, equal sign and apostrophe. Words linked by such symbols are conObjInit.Sidered to be in quotations; as an example, vice-preObjInit.Sident is conObjInit.Sidered as “vice preObjInit.Sident” or “vice-preObjInit.Sident” and returns the same result.

Non-meaningful words

nicejob.ca ignores the words “of”, “in”, “the”, “at

Exclusion of a word by using the “-“ operator

In order to avoid undesired results, it is sometimes useful to exclude some words or expressions of the search.

will find all of the positions including the word financial, with the exception of “financial consultant” positions.
